Paris, 27 September 2022 – Marlink, a global satellite and terrestrial network solution provider, (www.marlink.com) and OQ Technology (www.oqtec.com), the low Earth orbit (LEO) 5G IoT satellite communications company, announced the signing of a memorandum-of-understanding (MoU) for joint global partnership towards the distribution of Satellite 5G connectivity and hardware that is compatible with existing cellular network and based on the 3gpp 5g non-terrestrial network cellular standard. The agreement paves the way for Marlink to commercialise OQ Technology services across key enterprise verticals including Enterprise, Agriculture, Maritime, Energy, Telcos and Government, but also for leveraging Marlink’s capabilities, services, and network to expand OQ Technology global coverage.

The partnership includes introducing OQ product to Marlink customers for pilot testing around the globe and also working with Marlink towards the commercial phase. In return OQ Technology will offer Marlink discounted pricing as an early adopter. The partnership reflects the deepening cooperation between the two companies.

Marlink has more than 70+ years’ experience in providing satellite and terrestrial network solutions and is Number 1 Maritime VSAT Connectivity Provider with fully managed end-to-end network solutions combining high-quality hybrid connectivity with a range of managed IT, IoT and OT and Cyber security solutions with a global, high-quality network infrastructure including strategic PoPs, fully owned teleports and world-class Network Operations Centres.

OQ’s ‘cell-tower inside the satellite’ technology aims to provide real-time global connectivity with ultra-reliable low latency communication (URLLC) and massive machine type communications (mMTC) for applications in rural and remote areas. The company’s 5G IoT/M2M communication constellation is particularly suited for applications in industries such as oil, gas, logistics, mining and defence. Following the global standard of 3GPP of narrowband IoT (NB-IoT), allows OQ to provide a cost effective and highly scalable system as well as access to a large ecosystem of cellular chip vendors and operators.

OQ Technology Chief Executive Officer, Omar Qaise said "This partnership with Marlink offers us a significant opportunity to combine our LEO 5G IoT connectivity solutions, expanding our global capacity and further enhancing our commercial service.
